From large city wide control systems to small pumping stations EDG has implemented the answer successfully and on time.

The benchmark for today's municipal water system is to supply 140 gallons per day, per city resident. Needless to say, water demand by industry is infinitely more! Even countries that have never suffered from water shortages are becoming concerned about conserving the quantity and improving the quality of their water resources. Assisting in these efforts, modern SCADA and DCS systems are making major contributions to automating the production, transportation, treating and distribution of water, including wastewater and sewerage systems.

EDG completed the turnkey installation of a Ground Water Production Control System for the City of Houston, Texas. This system was the first automated system based on grid pressure control for a water distribution project of this size. Houston's water system includes three surface water plants totalling 300 MGD plus 150 groundwater plants ranging up to 30 MGD each. The EDG system is designed to monitor and control Houston's water production and distribution for the next many years to come.

EDG also performed the conceptual design and engineering specification for a Water System SCADA project in Saudi Arabia. Water from desalinization plants in the Damman, AI Khobar and AI Hassa areas is distributed throughout the entire Eastern Province.

EDG has engineered SCADA, DCS and PLC systems to be used to monitor, control, and manage municipal water systemssupplied from rivers, lakes and wells. At booster pump stations, reservoirs and filtration plants, the systems monitor and control pumps and valves to maintain preset flow and level parameters. The systems include such features as monitoring power usage, chlorinator operation, pump vibration, filter back-wash sequencing and component failure detection. The reports generated from the acquired data provide management with improved communications and more efficient operation.
