Since the mid 1980's EDG has built up substantial expertise in facilities management systems and in so doing building an enviable reputation for excellence.

Within the last decade, EDG has engineered and installed one SCADA and five DCS systems in the NASA Lewis Research Centre, Cleveland, Ohio. The $14 Million Central Air System project controls 250,000 HP in compressors, exhausters, heaters and chillers supplying conditioned air to 150 test cells in the Engine Research Building and the Propulsion Systems Laboratory. Another system controls the largest Supersonic Wind Tunnel in the world. The compressor train features include a 150,000 HP Main Drive and a 100,000 HP Secondary Drive motor on common shafts. Still another system controls an upgraded 15 MVA Variable Frequency Drive used to perform basic research in the study of turbo machinery mechanics.

At the US Navy Trident Submarine Base in King's Bay, Georgia, EDG was prime contractor for three SCADA systems and a nine-generator, 30 MW emergency power system. One SCADA system integrated the purchased power from Georgia Power with the Station Generation Master Control. The two other SCADA systems controlled the Submarine Base Traffic Control and Water Utility Distribution.

For the Department of Energy, an Automated Energy Management System was installed at the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. The Pantex Nuclear Warhead facility incorporates 90 buildings over a 10,000 acre complex.

US Naval Supply Centres in San Diego, California, and Jacksonville, Florida, had SCADA systems installed to modernize the operation of century-old fuel depots. EDG provided control and data acquisition systems for the Depot, plus Local Area Networks for the data processing in the Fuels Office and interfacing with the Defence Fuel Automated Management System. (DFAMS).

To summarize, in concert with its work with SCADA/DCS systems, EDG has amassed an impressive record in Energy Management Control Systems (EMCS). In this area, the company has handled over 600 projects ranging from single buildings to full blown SCADA/DCS systems capable of handling over 100 structures within one complex.
